All That Glitters

My current project:

I teach middle school, so September through June my world is YA. I read their books, watch their television shows (yup, Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries fan here), and listen to their stories. It was inevitable that I eventually would write a novel for and about teenagers.

All That Glitters is that book.

“All that glitters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold.”

Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice (2.7.69-73)

Having the golden touch with boys might seem like a high school girl’s dream, but it’s become Zoe’s nightmarish reality.

High school junior Zoe August has never liked a guy who didn’t end up liking her in return. She's not drop-dead gorgeous or exceedingly popular. She's just lucky—or so she thought. When Zoe’s ex disappears and is presumed dead days after dumping her, she begins to fear her gift is a curse. He’s not the first boy to have a mishap after breaking her heart. Finding a few cryptic clues from her MIA father, Zoe realizes she needs to find him or forever live in fear of falling in love. Her quest becomes more urgent when she meets Kiran O’Rourke, the dangerously handsome newcomer who’s moved to town after his mother’s sudden death. Zoe can’t walk away once she discovers they are both searching for answers from her father. Nor can she repress her growing feelings for Kiran, even if surrendering to them means risking her heart and his life.
